Toss that Sanford...
This antibiotic guide is so well-organized, up-to-date, and thorough that I've thrown away my Sanford. When in the ED I don't have time to fumble through hundreds of pages of Sanford tables looking for the right drug - here I have not only the drug, but the dosage and course in a matter of seconds. Other features like pregnancy contraindications and even average pill costs are included which makes me, and my patients, much happier. I never start a shift without it.

Superb quick reference for antibiotics
The reason you should buy this book is because it is USEFUL. I am a pediatric resident who works a lot of shifts in the ED. I have sanford, pharmacopia , and this book. I definitely use this book the most because it gives me the specific antibiotic and dose for a specific diagnosis. The parmacopia lists the meds while sanford is too nonspecfic and cumbersome to use. I was treating a case of pyelo the other day, fumbled through sanford for about 3-4 minutes and found 4 antibiotic abbreviations, which took me another minute to find out the names, only to find out they were not peds weight based. I quickly opened the EMRA guide and found my answer in 20 seconds. I love the book because it is quick, easy, and accurate. A must buy.

beyond the "save sex for marriage" message
This is a truly inspiring book. It goes beyond the "save sex for marriage" message. We've all heard why we should save sex for marriage, and this book goes beyond that. The book is inspiring whether you are a virgin or have had sex before. You can start over and see why sex for marriage is truly worth waiting for.

This book will explain why the "Sex and the City" philosophy of sex doesn't work in the real world, and why God's way of sex works best. Its written with warmth and avoids cliches. You can bet that this book has found a place in my library. I liked it even more than Rebecca St. James book, "Wait for me."

Most inspiring christian book I've read in years!
This book was DEFINATELY inspired by our Lord. I have read dozens and dozens of christian books, but none have ever brought me so close to God (except, of course, His Word). I wish I had read this 20 years ago, before I bought into the world's lie and wreeked endless destruction through my sexual conquests. What God made to be the most beautiful experience in life has been misused and destroyed by the media, movies, and all of the brilliantly ignorant voices in our godless country. And in the process, deeply tarnished the beauty of our Lord. If your married, READ this, it will bring new levels to your intimacy. If your single and sexually active, your missing the greatest insight and inspiration you will ever experience if you don't hear what God has to say about sexuality. Sex outside of God will NEVER satisfy you, trust me, I've tried. If your single and celebate, this will inspire you so much you will never be tempted to not wait again. And if you are a parent, PLEASE get this for your kids, before Satan and his lies scar them forever, and dishonor our Lord. God isn't trying to restrict us - rather, He is trying to bless us beyond our understanding. Please take the time to read this. From one who has lived outside of God's will and seen the devastation - and it ALWAYS DEVASTATES. Now, I am thanking the Lord for His Mercy and looking forward with great hope and expectation to experiencing this most incredible and glorious blessing AS HE PLANNED IT.

Read to Your Child to Improve Bonding and Intellect!
Researchers constantly find that reading to children is valuable in a variety of ways, not least of which are instilling a love of reading and improved reading skills. With better parent-child bonding from reading, your child will also be more emotionally secure and able to relate better to others. Intellectual performance will expand as well. Spending time together watching television fails as a substitute.

To help other parents apply this advice, as a parent of four I consulted an expert, our youngest child, and asked her to share with me her favorite books that were read to her as a young child. Ant and Bee and the Secret was one of her picks.

I was surprised that she liked this book because it was the source of many critical discussions between us when she was younger. Let me explain. In the story, whenever the two friends, ant and bee, do something together, bee always does it better than bee at first. Bee then taunts ant by saying that ant is stupid. Ant gets angry and stalks off to a secret place. When ant returns, ant can outdo bee at whatever the activity is (such as drawing straight lines for hop scotch, jumping rope, and telling stories). My daughter and I both thought that was very rude of bee, and we didn't like that feature of the story.

After much discussion, we decided to change the story. Wherever it said 'stupid' we substituted 'silly' (my daughter's choice of word). And we both liked the book much better after that.

This book is a beginning reader, and there are five words printed in red in it (Ant, and, Bee, the, SECRET). As you and your child read the story together, your child reads the five words in red whenever they appear. It's a lot of fun (almost like singing a round) , and those words are quickly mastered.

The drawings are very cute, and having a mystery also helps sustain the child's interest. I won't tell you what the secret place is, but you'll like the answer.

Overcome your stalled thinking that children cannot rewrite stories to make them work better for them! Read and enjoy this fine book, and being with your rapidly-learning young reader!

One of the things I liked best about the story is that is indicates that you can improve if you work on it. Ant developed better skills, and bee developed better manners. Too often, young children can end up being discouraged if things don't go perfectly. Motor coordination skills develop differently from one child to the next, and we all should be encouraging and patient with that.

This book makes me happy!
This book is exciting! It is a mystery. It is really fun. There is an ant and bee and kind dog. They are friends. They aren't always nice to each other. Bee learns how to be nice in the end.

Ashley Bryan's ABC of African American Poetry

Beautiful, breath-taking
The illustrations in this book are so beautiful, words can not explain. It is a simple read that introduces the little ones to poetry. Most poems are excerpts of a stanza or a few lines and the picture corresponds to the poem. Each poem either starts with the letter of the letter is bold in the poem and ties in the picture. For example, F=freedom, but the poem's first letter is not F, so F is bold in the word freedom. Highly recommended for the entire family.

Awesome Images!
We love this book and are purchasing a second copy so we can cut out the images and frame them. Ashley Bryan is a master of art! Bryan uses only portions of poems by wonderful poets, the stanzas chosen match the images perfectly and make the reader want to find the entire poem to read! Highly recommended by this family

Bioinformatics Computing

A must read!
This book was a pleasant surprise. It's one of the few books on bioinformatics that I've read that doesn't assume the reader has a PhD in biochemistry or mathematics. It's a gentle but thorough introduction to many of the problems faced by life scientists who are trying to get a handle on this thing called bioinformatics. I've been working in the life sciences for years, and this is the first book I've read that explains how I can make use of the various search engines, genomic analysis tools, and the dozens of genomics databases worldwide in my day-to-day life.

I especially appreciate the author's frank analysis of the state of the art at the end of each chapter. He seems to put a balanced spin on the field, pointing out the vast potential of bioinformatics computing in practical medicine and materials synthesis, while grounding the reader in current political and economic realities that are limiting many aspects of the field.

I consider it a must read.

Bioinformatics for now and the future
Dr, Beregeron ofers a sensible yet visionary exposition of the field. For me, the future direction of this field is most compelling. It is a primer that can be challenging to the most sophisticated afficionado, also.

Bryan Kest: Spinal Strengthening (CD & Booklet)

WOW! :)
I can't begin to say enough good things about this workout. I am an aficianada of Bryan Kest's original Power Yoga series from 1995. I also enjoy his new videos (especially Intensive Sculpting) from 2002. But...I just love this CD. It is the best workout that I have done in a long time - maybe ever. I thought initially that it might be weird working out without the visual imagery of video, but it is actually better. Bryan's voice is extra soothing, and his direction easily guides you from pose to pose without needing to look at the included book, (assuming that you know a few basic poses, such as cobra and down dog - the others he aptly describes.) I found myself more able to concentrate on the yoga, without distraction. The basic workout begins a bit more relaxed than his Power Yoga series, taking a bit more time to stretch, as opposed to getting your muscles "hot" right away. But before long, you find that your heart rate is getting up there and your muscles are working and that you are doing some invigorating but really challenging balances. This is spinal strenghening at its best, relaxation at its deepest. Bryan Kest's emphasis is, as always, on knowing your body and its limitations and first and foremost, feeling the breath. Another nice thing about this workout is that although it is divided between two CD's, the second CD is basically the last stretches and relaxation, so if you have a single CD player machine, you are not changing the discs in the middle of an intense pose. Also, you might like to do the relaxation CD by itself sometime, just to unwind. A bonus is the book, which has all of the poses and could be taken on a vacation even when you don't want to take the CD. This CD is great - and a day after doing this workout, all of my muscles feel like they got their fair workout. Six stars. Check it out.

Excellent!
It's in cd format, therefore one can do as little or as much as one can handle. It is actually a well rounded full body workout. I thought it might be lots of spinal stretching and relaxation, but it includes loads of strengthening for the spine and the core. Starts off with a spinal balancing sequence - table position on hands and knees with extended opposing arm and leg - then side arm balances with lots of variations, and extended cat pose...then seated poses with table (stomach towards ceiling) with lots of variations and much boat work. Then prone poses- swimming type work, yoga "supermans" and bow pose. Next track is variations on camel with great lateral stretches. Then standing balances which are quite advanced. Then there's an extra hips and legs section - reclining pidgeon and nice hip stretches which feel great. finishing poses include plow and shoulderstand and neck stretches. Plus of course my favourite spinal twists.

In between the poses in the first tracks - mini flows - plank down to low pushup position, and cobras and down dog. All in all about 130 poses which include the transition poses.

The booklet is great too. I thought it was going to be tiny - cd sized, but it's quite big - about 8 inches square, and spiral bound which is great - and every pose is photographed - Bryan doing the advanced version of the pose, and a female model showing modifications. There are also written instructiosn along all the poses. And there are a couple of cute dogs in some of the photos - nice touch - my cat likes to join me in my yoga practice, so I appreciated this.

No music, but I don't mind. Music can be great, but it can be distracting.

All in all a great find. I am really happy with my purchase, and plan to do it regularly.

The Cruise of the German Raider Atlantis

Pirates of Integrity, albeit Nazi influenced
An intriguing and informative account of (at least for me) a beforehand unknown type of naval warrior. Capt. Slavick portrays the intregrity, honor and sterling seamanship of the German sailors in a well paced account of their arduous and eventful journey. The book is effuse with personal anecdotes of the crew and Slavick does an especially good job of portaying the exceptional character and ability of Kapitan-zur-See Bernard Rogge. This account compares with "South" by Shakleton in intrigue but is a more juicy and livlier book.

Great Raid!
On a recommendation, I ordered this book as I am interested in history. Upon receipt, I honestly thought it would be like many historical accounts I've read: dry, long, a battle to read through. How absolutely wrong I turned out to be!!!! This book was amazing and I couldn't put it down. I completed the book in one sitting...

In fact, Capt Slavick's writing style and story telling was so captivating, I FOUND MYSELF ROOTING FOR THE GERMAN RAIDERS against the Allies!!!

This is a story of perseverence, leadership, integrity, dedication-to-duty, experience, job knowledge, "can-do" attitudes and yes, even discipline. The crew of the Atlantis displayed all of these time-honored words that the military holds so dear. The terms themselves may be cliche to some, but to the military, they mean "mission accomplished." When one reads this book, one will have a better understanding of what these words truly mean.

Capt Slavick also captures the essence of WWII naval warfare for the reader. He brings the reader onto the ship and deftly includes us into the nuances of inaction and wildly takes us along during the explosive interruption of combat and chaos...

Read this book, you won't be disappointed!

Insightful guide
I am looking forward to using Daily Prayer 2002 which I received as a gift. Just by browing through it, I can see the effort and creative thinking that went into this well-written guide for your prayerful walk with God.

Fine Place to Start
"Discover the Internet" is the simplest, least expensive way to learn about exploring the Internet, this book teaches readers not only the most enjoyable places to visit in cyberspace, but also the most important functions the Net can serve. This book has lots of useable information and I would recommend it to anyone using the Internet. This guide is both fun to read and lists many useful sights and places to go. You will learn how to navigate the web, join in chats, visit you ancestors, and zillions of cyberspace information and activities. This is a great place to start.

Great Book for Beginners

This book quickly gets beginners up to speed. But at the same time, doesn't attempt to overwhelm them with techno-garble. It even includes lots of screen shots, including one of Amazon.com.

Working in the industry it has the answers to commonly asked questions. How to block web sites from children? How to protect from Viruses? How to download? How to e-mail? Where are some of the best sites? Working with Favorites or Bookmarks? How to SUCCESSFULLY search?

I carry it around like a Bible for people to look at. It is a must buy for anybody who wants to web-savvy without being a techno-genius

The Dog Who Loved the Good Life

My nephews love this book!
As an animal lover, I'm always looking for fun books to share with my nephews that depict dogs or cats in home settings, closer to being part of a family (and not an accessory). I also love to hear my nephews giggle. While Mr. Hibble isn't so crazy about his companion's antics, my nephews fell in love with Jake. (They like to tease me that Jake should go to live at my house to teach my dogs some manners.) For all those aunts and uncles out there, get this book! The illustrations are awesome (some of the books out there--Yikes!).

Hilarious!
I read this book to my 5 year old and we were rolling on the floor. The dog, Jake is completely adorable. The expressions on the his face alone are worth the price of this book. I think kids will get a laugh just picturing their own pet dogs doing some of the things this one does.
Very fun book to read and I highly recommend it!
